It is summer now, and the rain’s turn at the hacienda, settling the “creative dust”, replenishing our water sources, and clearing out the air for next year’s programming.
Immense thanks to the first 8 residents of 2012! Their creativity, adaptability and energy made our first session of the year a very fruitful and enjoyable one:
Two Guapamacátaro alumni, Mark Clare (IRELAND) and Julia Mandle (USA) succeed in creating artworks that are political without being “preachy”.
Sameena Sitabkhan (INDIA/USA) carries out a conceptual scope of our site and brings forth a draft for future land use developments, including a community center.
Daniel Cristóbal (MEXICO) hand-knitts and installs a delicate net structure throughout our site, constructing a series of awe-inspiring in-situ sculptures.
Alberto Díaz (ARGENTINA) creates a sculpture/installation series in paper, tape, and clay, over two residency sessions (2009 and 2011).
